Summary:
Manages The MetroHealth System's (MHS) public policy and government relations strategies within the city of Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, and other local municipalities to ensure MHS can best fulfill its mission. Creates innovative and productive relationships with elected officials, cabinet leadership, council members, committees, and agencies of government to advance health system priorities. Engages health system leadership to effectively respond to and shape local legislation and public sector funding plans that could impact the system's patient care, financial, and business plans. Attends relevant public and private sector leadership meetings to represent MetroHealth's policy and government relations interests. Collaborates with members of the external affairs department on system priorities. Upholds the mission, vision, values, and customer service standards of The MetroHealth System.

Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in political science, business, economics, public or healthcare administration, or a closely related field. In lieu of degree, any combination of education, training, and experience in addition to the experience stated below.
- 10 years of government relations, public policy, advocacy, or public service experience with a direct connection to the healthcare industry.
- Strong and thorough knowledge of the county and municipal governments, officials and communities in Cuyahoga County. Strong analytical, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
- Highly self-motivated and results oriented. Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal and presentation skills.
- Strong advocacy skills. Impeccable ethics.
- Strong personal initiative and dedication to The MetroHealth System's mission.
- Ability to interact effectively with a wide range of cultural, ethnic, racial, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Preferred:
- Master's Degree in Health Care Administration, MBA, JD, or similar advanced degree.
- 12-15 years of experience in government relations, association or public service in healthcare, health insurance, or a closely related field.
- Physical Demands:
- May need to move around intermittently during the day, including sitting, standing, stooping, bending, and ambulating.
- May need to remain still for extended periods, including sitting and standing. Ability to communicate in face-to-face, phone, email, and other communications.
- Ability to read job related documents. Ability to use computer.
