Manager General Accounting-Accounting

Summary:


Leads assigned staff and day-to-day operations in the Accounting Department. Ensures that accounting principles, practices, and procedures are maintained by staff and completed in an accurate and timely manner. Ensures that daily operations are in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) including Government Accounting Standards Board (GASB) and Financial Accounting Standards Board's (FASB) standards. Oversees accounting and reporting for capital projects, including transformation. Manages the activities of assigned staff, including ensuring that work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner. Provides leadership/mentoring to management and staff. Makes recommendations to senior leadership for policy enhancements to ensure optimal controls and efficiencies. Upholds the mission, vision, values, and customer service standards of The MetroHealth System.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or other related field.
  • 6 years of progressively responsible experience in financial accounting.
  • 2 years of progressively responsible management experience.
  • Strong knowledge of the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and multi-tasking skills.
  • Excellent project management skills with experience in managing and supervising administrative projects.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, including excellent presentation skills and the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management.
  • Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, and produce quality results on time with strong attention to detail.
  • Willing/able to work additional hours as needed and approved by management (i.e. during the month-end close process).
  • Ability to interact effectively with a wide range of cultural, ethnic, racial, and socioeconomic backgrounds.


Preferred:

  • Master's degree in Business Administration, Finance, or Accounting.
  • Current Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license.
  • Experience in healthcare finance.
  • Advanced skills with Microsoft Excel and Access.


Physical Requirements:

  • Finger dexterity to operate office equipment required.
