Summary:
Ensures the accurate and timely processing of professional and technical charges while upholding compliance standards in a fully Epic-integrated environment. Performs high-volume transactional charge capture, surgical charge review, and work queue resolution to support timely billing and revenue realization. Serves as a foundational operational resource for the Revenue Integrity team by completing detailed charge entry and edit resolution work. Actively identifies missing or incomplete data that delays charge posting and works with clinical and operational partners to resolve issues. Upholds the mission, vision, values, and customer service standards of The MetroHealth System.
Qualifications:
Required: HS Diploma or passage of a high school equivalency exam. 2 years of experience with professional and/or technical billing practices, charge capture, or coding edit resolution. Proficient keyboarding skills. Familiarity with medical terminology, ICD-10, CPT, and modifier coding. Strong attention to detail and ability to perform repetitive, task-based work accurately. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Excellent customer service skills.
Preferred: Associates degree in Finance, Health Administration, Public Health, Business Administration or a related discipline. Experience in Epic Resolute billing applications, including charge capture or billing-related work queues. Any coding certification from an accredited source, such as AAPC or AHIMA. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel. Experience supporting Revenue Cycle and clinical documentation work flows.
Physical Requirements: May sit, stand, stoop, bend, and ambulate intermittently during the day. May need to sit or stand for extended periods. See in the normal visual range with or without correction. Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction. Finger dexterity to operate office equipment required. May need to lift up to twenty-five (25) pounds on occasion. Ability to communicate in face-to-face, phone, email, and other communications. Ability to see computer monitor and departmental documents.
