Environment of Care Specialist - Environmental Health & Safety

Shift: 7:00 am - 3:30 pm

Summary:


Implements, monitors, and coordinates system-wide environmental health and safety programs. Ensures compliance with appropriate hospital accrediting agencies, governmental laws, and regulations. Assists in developing and implementing The Joint Commission (TJC) Environmental Safety and Environment of Care education programs and performance improvement projects. Participates in the MetroHealth System Environment of Care Committee and assigned sub-committees.

Qualifications:

Required: Associate's Degree in Occupational/Industrial Safety and Health, or related field. In lieu of a degree, any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience in addition to the experience stated below. 3 years of industrial/institutional safety experience. Working knowledge of regulatory/accrediting agencies e.g., Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Department of Transportation (DOT), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), The Joint Commission (TJC), National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA), Underground Storage Tank Regulations (BUSTR) Prior experience conducting training programs and conducting risk assessments. Ability to create spreadsheets, graphs, and statistical analysis using Microsoft Excel. Proficiency with Microsoft Office. Ability to develop and present educational programs. Ability to travel as necessary. Reliable transportation to travel between facilities. Preferred: Bachelor's degree in occupational/industrial safety and health, Biology, Chemistry, or related field. Certification in hazardous waste operations and emergency response. Experience conducting construction site inspections RCRA Hazardous Waste Training DOT Hazardous Materials Training Experience in compliance at a Joint Commission-accredited hospital and/or behavioral health setting.
