At MetroHealth, our team of passionate physicians and providers works tirelessly every day to serve our community and create real change in the lives of our patients. Our team, which has included Nobel prize winners, vaccine developers and innovative treatment researchers, is
driven, servant-hearted, compassionate, scholarly and, most importantly, wholly dedicated to improving the lives of those who need it most. If you would enjoy working for an expanding organization where you can make a lasting difference, consider joining us.
MetroHealth feels like a community hospital but has all the resources of a large academic teaching hospital. The people I work with are caring, compassionate individuals who keep up with the latest developments and provide the utmost care to patients. I am consistently inspired by my peers and the environment here.
Allysen, Lead APP
I started here a quarter of a century ago, and month after month, year after year, my appreciation for MetroHealth has gone up by leaps and bounds. I'm able to do the right thing for my patients at the right time, supported by this system. There are a lot of experiences on a daily basis that motivate us to do even more for our patients.
Abdulla Ghori, MD, FAAP, Department of Pediatrics
What sets us apart is our care for the community. Not only are we known for providing high quality care, but MetroHealth also gives back by creating greenspace, housing and fresh food and markets for our patients. This is an excellent place to work, with a good work-life balance and excellent benefits — both are always a plus!
Jacalyn, Lead APRN, Department of Internal Medicine
I work with a special group of patients with cancer or other blood diseases. We fast become family, because you walk with them as they go through their cancer journey. It's very rewarding. You come in wanting to help and you leave very happy. Even if it is in just one person's life, I'm thankful I have that opportunity to make a difference.
Tonjeh Bah, MD, Hematology/Oncology
MetroHealth brought the best out of me as a physician and as a human being, as well. Every day brings special challenges and opportunities, but you drive home full of gratitude, gratification and hope, and you'll be looking forward to another day and its own blessings that it brings.

Why MetroHealth?
Mission-Based Care
Providers are inspired by our System's dedication to serving the most vulnerable with high quality and compassionate care, while also working to tackle social barriers. Our patient population is in need, and you will find fulfillment in supporting our communities.
Unique Caseload
Here, you will serve a large and diverse patient population, which means you'll gain incredible experience with and exposure to complex cases and diagnoses. Our large trauma center is also appealing to many providers.
Autonomy and Quality
We provide high autonomy and the flexibility to practice on your terms, without an overbearing focus on output and numbers. With no pay-per-patient model or other metrics to meet, you'll be able to focus on delivering quality care exactly as you see fit.
Growth Opportunities
We encourage our providers to grow through various opportunities including our residency and GME programs, research projects, membership on advisory boards and committees, CME/learning, mentoring students and volunteering in our communities.
Faculty & Research Roles
All active MetroHealth physicians are faculty of Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. This gives you the ability to teach and mentor the next generation of healthcare professionals. With more than $100 million in active grants, the MetroHealth Research Institute also offers many opportunities to participate in groundbreaking research.
Great Respect
Working here means high autonomy and voting rights so you can maintain your sense of individualism while still having a voice. MetroHealth is always willing to listen to our providers, who are active participants in how we operate.
Collaborative Culture
Compassionate coworkers, ego-free collaboration, diversified perspectives and dedicated learning are all part of our great environment. Both clinical and non-clinical staff are kind, friendly and always willing to lend a helping hand. The patients we serve are also appreciative.
Desirable Compensation
MetroHealth providers are paid highly competitive salaries based on MGMA data in a transparent practice plan. In addition to a base salary, you are eligible for productivity, teaching and quality incentives.
Robust Benefits
We offer an exceptional benefits package, with health insurance that has zero copays and low deductibles, a full-featured wellness program and a retirement plan through OPERS that is considered the area's best. See more benefits.
True Balance
In addition to generous PTO for providers that includes four weeks of paid vacation, 10 holidays and 15 sick days, we offer flexible schedules, telehealth opportunities and work-from-home options with ultramodern workstations. That means you'll get to enjoy great work/life balance.

Advanced Practice Providers
We have been steadily adding advanced practice providers and now have close to 500 within the organization. APPs are supported by physician colleagues and treated respectfully — you won't hear "mid-level provider" used here, as we do not provide mid-level care. We have a great group of APPs in hospital medicine and advocates for APPs throughout the organization.
Advanced practice providers are integrated into our medical staff and are voting members.
We offer new graduate APPs a Transition to Practice Program based on their specialty, and all APPs participate in an onboarding program.
MetroHealth also sponsors two APP conferences annually for continuing education.
We have roles for Advanced Practice Registered Nurses across our system, as well as Physician Assistants in areas including Neurosurgery and Trauma, Emergency Department and Emergency General Surgery.
