Histology Technologist - Surgical Pathology/Histology
Location: METROHEALTH MEDICAL CENTER
Biweekly Hours: 40.00
Shift: M-F w/ start times btwn 4a and 8a

Summary:
Performs a variety of Anatomic Pathology laboratory procedures of various complexities with technical supervision while following procedural guidelines. Ensures all procedures and protocols adhere to departmental guidelines, safety and regulatory requirements, and quality control standards. Coordinates with a diverse group of people and skill levels in performing daily operational tasks. Upholds the mission, vision, values, and customer service standards of The MetroHealth System.
Qualifications:
Required: Registered Histology Technician (HT) or Histology Technologist (HTL) by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) OR presents proof at the time of job application in the form of an Admission Notice from the ASCP that 1) an application for registration has been submitted, and 2) eligibility documentation has been approved for examination scheduling. (NOTE: If the second option is applicable, must provide official notification to The MetroHealth System of a passing score on the certification examination within one month of the Admission Notice expiration date.)Education or education combined with experience in one of the following combinations: - Associate of Science degree in an Applied Science or equivalent as outlined in CLIA-88 (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments of 1988) Regulations. OR - HS Diploma or passage of a high school equivalency exam,and past experience performing tissue handling and dissecting/grossing prior to April 24, 1995, with documentation of tissue handling and dissecting/grossing proof from previous employers.Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Preferred: Experience with electronic equipment and computer systems. Bachelor of Science degree.Physical Requirements: May sit, stand, stoop, bend, and ambulate intermittently during the day. May need to sit or stand for extended periods. See in the normal visual range with or without correction. Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction. Requires some exposure to communicable diseases or body fluids. Physical Demands:
