Manager Nursing Research Program/System Nurse Scientist

Summary:


Directs and oversees nursing research activities among nurses across the Nursing Enterprise. Acts as a mentor and role model that guides nurses through research. Demonstrates a progressive vision for nursing and patient care services research and engages others in that vision. Develops nursing research initiatives, fosters research utilization activities, and protects the rights of human subjects involved in nursing research. Serves as a liaison between the Nursing Department and the Institutional Review Board (IRB) and Office of Compliance. Explores research funding opportunities, and disseminates research findings at professional organizations, in journals, and within applicable clinical areas. Leads multi-site and interdisciplinary research studies. Collaborates across departments throughout The MetroHealth System (MHS) regarding research initiatives. Upholds the mission, vision, values, and customer service standards of The MetroHealth System.

Qualifications:

Required:

Research doctorate degree (PhD) in Nursing, or other related health field (Must possess a Bachelor of Science in Nursing or higher nursing degree if PhD is not in nursing).

Possess a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio.

Possess a current certification in conducting Human Subject Research or obtains within 3 months of hire.

5 years of experience in clinical nursing.

Preferred:

3 years of experience in clinical and/or nursing research.

Physical Requirements: May sit, stand, stoop, bend, and ambulate intermittently during the day. May need to sit or stand for extended periods. See in the normal visual range with or without correction. Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction. Finger dexterity to operate office equipment required. Ability to communicate in face-to-face, phone, email, and other communications. Ability to see computer monitor and departmental documents.
