Summary:


Coordinates and performs clinical andrology testing in the Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility (REI)'s Department. Assists Director of the Laboratory with regulatory compliance of laboratory systems. Collaborates with Reproductive Endocrinologist(s) and other physicians on patient care including insemination therapy. Performs a variety of activities related to reproductive technologies in support of the Reproductive Endocrinology Program. Ensures all activities, procedures and testing performed adhere to departmental guidelines, safety and regulatory requirements, and quality control standards. Identifies and recommends improvements in operating procedures. Upholds the mission, vision, values, and customer service standards of The MetroHealth System.

Qualifications:

Required: Bachelor's degree in biological/chemical science, OR any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience in addition to the experience stated below. Documented training in andrology 5 years of pertinent laboratory experience. Demonstrated ability to plan and coordinate lab operations. Ability to work independent of immediate supervision and assume the initiative for prompt and accurate task performance. Knowledge of statistics and process improvement. Possesses knowledge of Quality Control /Quality Assurance, attention to detail, and excellent documentation habits. Excellent organizational and communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to present a positive, compassionate, and comforting demeanor to patients facing the challenging experience of infertility. Preferred: Certification in laboratory medicine, andrology Technical Supervisor (American Board of BioAnalysis) Certification, Medical Technologist certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) 2 years of recent experience in an Andrology or Reproductive Laboratory setting Experience working with preparation of samples for insemination and cryopreservation Physical Demands: May need to move around intermittently during the day, including sitting, standing, stooping, bending, and ambulating. May need to remain still for extended periods, including sitting and standing. Ability to communicate in face-to-face, phone, email, and other communications. Ability to read job related documents. Ability to use computer.
