Summary:
Collaborates with Population Health Research Institute (PHRI) faculty and staff on data science activities related to research. This includes designing data collection strategies, extracting and normalizing data elements from multiple systems, managing and analyzing data, contributing to analytic reports and research proposals and manuscripts. Maintains system solutions to capture, track and report health-related information using various software applications. Provides system, data and analytic support for a variety of educational, research and quality improvement activities at PHRI. Data systems include electronic health records, claims data bases and other public and private systems to support internally and externally funded research and quality improvement at PHRI and The MetroHealth System.
Qualifications:
Required: Master's degree in Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Information Systems, Data Analytics or other quantitatively rigorous field of study. In lieu of degree, any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience in addition to the experience stated below. Experience with a range of applied quantitative methods such as those used in biostatistics, epidemiology, and health services research. Experience with R, Python, or equivalent. Documented experience with the use of software for data management and statistical analysis. Strong academic background in statistics and data analytics, knowledge of quantitative methods. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to remain flexible and thrive in a fast-paced and often unstructured environment. Ability to interact effectively with a wide range of cultural, ethnic, racial, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Preferred: Experience in a health care or health care research environment. Shareable code portfolio demonstrating attention to detail and data visualization skills. Experience using SQL. Knowledge of artificial intelligence, machine learning, or deep learning methods. Experience working with free-text data and natural language processing tools. Experience creating data visualizations using Tableau, Power BI or other data visualization tools. Knowledge of current medical developments and terminology, along with interest in learning about public health. Physical Requirements: May sit, stand, stoop, bend, and ambulate intermittently during the day. May need to sit or stand for extended periods. See in the normal visual range with or without correction. Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction. Ability to communicate in face-to-face, phone, email, and other communications. Ability to read job related documents. Ability to use computer.
