Biweekly Hours: 80.00

Shift: Day Shift 8a- 4:30p; 5 - Eight hour shifts/week as needed and scheduled.

Summary:


Performs all essential technical functions associated with clinical flow cytometry testing, with a focus on leukemia/lymphoma profiles and lymphocyte subset analyses. Under the direction of Departmental Administrative/Medical leadership, contributes to maintaining the flow cytometry area, including complying with regulatory and accrediting agency requirements. Provides advanced practical/theoretical skills as required to perform, evaluate, and determine the reliability of flow cytometry test results/procedures. Upholds the mission, vision, values, and customer service standards of The MetroHealth System.

Qualifications:

Required: Bachelor of Science or Associate of Science Degree in Biological Sciences or other related field. Registered with the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) as a Medical Technologist (MT/ASCP), Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS/ASCP), OR an equivalent registration within two years of hire. 3 years of recent post-certificate experience in flow cytometry. Competency with the BD Biosciences Flow Cytometer/associated instrumentation and Data-Interpolating Variational Analysis (DIVA) Software. Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Strong computer skills. Preferred: 5 years of recent experience in flow cytometry. Physical Requirements: May sit, stand, stoop, bend, and ambulate intermittently during the day. May need to sit or stand for extended periods. See in the normal visual range with or without correction. Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction. Finger dexterity to operate office equipment required. May need to lift up to twenty-five (25) pounds on occasion. Ability to communicate in face-to-face, phone, email, and other communications. Ability to see computer monitor and departmental documents. Requires some exposure to communicable diseases or body fluids. Requires some exposure to chemicals and cleaning products.
