APP - Hematology Oncology

Location: Main Campus (with potential coverage at Parma)
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Call: No call requirement

The MetroHealth System is seeking a dynamic and compassionate Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our growing Hematology/Oncology team. This role provides the opportunity to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care across outpatient oncology, hematology, and supportive services within a collaborative and fast-paced clinical environment.

We welcome motivated new graduates and encourage candidates with prior oncology experience to apply. Experience in areas such as chemotherapy management, sickle cell disease management, bone marrow biopsy procedures, or cell therapy/BMT is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive clinical care to oncology and hematology patients in an outpatient setting
  • Perform thorough clinical assessments and manage acute and chronic conditions
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary team members to deliver coordinated care
  • Participate in procedures and supportive services related to oncology and hematology care
  • Maintain compliance with institutional policies, clinical protocols, and regulatory requirements

Qualifications
  • Previous experience as an Advanced Practice Provider preferred
  • New graduates with oncology experience or strong oncology-focused clinical training are encouraged to apply
  • Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and patient management skills

Required Credentials
  • Graduate of an accredited Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or Physician Assistant (PA) program
  • Current licensure in the State of Ohio:
    • APRNs: Active RN license and APRN Certificate of Authority
    • Physician Assistants: Active PA license
  • National board certification in specialty area (APRN or NCCPA, as applicable)
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (or obtained within 90 days of hire)
  • Obtain advanced life support certification relevant to the practice area within 180 days of hire
  • Eligible for and able to obtain clinical privileges with The MetroHealth System; credentialing initiated through the Medical Staff Office upon hire
  • Maintain required collaborative or supervisory agreements in accordance with Ohio law
  • For Nurse Practitioners: Maintain a Standard Care Arrangement as required by the Ohio Board of Nursing


Physical Demands
  • Requires full range of body motion, including handling and lifting patients
  • Prolonged standing and walking throughout the clinical day
  • Ability to lift and carry items up to 30 pounds
  • Manual dexterity for performance of clinical procedures (e.g., bone marrow biopsies, central line management)
  • Visual and auditory acuity sufficient to assess patient conditions and operate medical equipment
  • Potential exposure to infectious diseases, hazardous materials, and chemotherapy agents
  • Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment
