Summary:
Collaborates with the Specialty Pharmacy care team to coordinate the provision of patient care and/or medication care for selected Specialty Pharmacy patients. Integrates/coordinates access, utilization management, and proactive patient management. Communicates with patients and/or patient care givers, primarily via the telephone. Under the direct supervision of a Pharmacist, executes a wide variety of duties in the delivery of pharmaceutical care to patients in the ambulatory pharmacies of the Specialty Pharmacy, and the Mail Order Pharmacy. Meets various standards for The MetroHealth System's Pharmacy Department (i.e. prescription turnaround time, medication dispensing accuracy, etc.). Upholds the mission, vision, values, and customer service standards of The MetroHealth System.
Qualifications:
Required: High School Diploma or passage of a high school equivalency exam. 18 years of age or older with no felony convictions, per Ohio Revised Code 4729.42. Registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the Ohio State Board of Pharmacy. Maintains registration throughout the course of employment. 3 years of experience in a retail pharmacy/hospital-based ambulatory pharmacy, or has equivalent specialty pharmacy experience. Access to reliable transportation to travel to satellite locations based on organizational needs. Ability to interact effectively with a wide range of cultural, ethnic, racial, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Preferred: Current/active Certified Pharmacy Technician from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB), OR possess an Exam for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians (ExCPT) Certification from the National Healthcareer Association. 6 to 12 months of experience in a specialty pharmacy. Physical Requirements: May sit, stand, stoop, bend, and ambulate intermittently during the day. May need to sit or stand for extended periods. See in the normal visual range with or without correction. Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction. Finger dexterity to operate office equipment required. May need to lift up to twenty-five (25) pounds on occasion. Ability to communicate in face-to-face, phone, email, and other communications. Ability to see computer monitor and departmental documents. Requires some exposure to biohazardous chemicals.
