Summary:
Manages the daily operations of the Environmental Services (EVS) Department for assigned area(s). Effectively supervises personnel to support the mission/achieve the strategic objectives of The MetroHealth System. Ensures that assigned area(s) are clean, safe, and operating in compliance with all applicable health and safety standards/regulations/laws. Assesses current operations, identifies changes that should be made for operational/efficiency needs, and anticipates the impact of changes on the Environmental Services department. Evaluates systems/processes/standards, and works collaboratively with the Director - Environmental Services to design and/or make improvements to achieve goals pertaining to efficiency/maintaining effective operations. Demonstrated proficient knowledge of industry best practices regarding the proper operation of Environmental Services equipment/floor care chemistry as obtained via hands-on experience. Acts as a Subject Matter Expert by actively sharing industry best practice information with EVS staff/other employees of The MetroHealth System, actively assessing current processes/procedures, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives. Upholds the mission, vision, values, and customer service standards of The MetroHealth System.
Qualifications:
Required: HS Diploma or passage of a high school equivalency exam. A minimum of three (3) years of supervisory experience, preferably in health-care related field. A minimum of five (5) years of Environmental Services experience in a hospital setting. Extensive experience with the use, operation, and maintenance of a variety of EVS equipment. Extensive knowledge of industry best practices for the proper handling of chemicals and chemistry related to floor care and environmental sanitation. Knowledge of floor care best practices for a wide variety of flooring. Demonstrated leadership ability. Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Knowledge of training methods/techniques, and experience implementing them. Ability to interact effectively with a wide range of cultural, ethnic, racial, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Preferred: Associate or Bachelor degree. Basic knowledge of Epic. Physical Requirements: May sit, stand, stoop, bend, and ambulate intermittently during the day. May need to sit for extended periods. See in the normal visual range with or without correction. Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction. Finger dexterity to operate office equipment required. Ability to communicate in face-to-face, phone, email, and other communications. Ability to see computer monitor and departmental documents. Ability to push/pull 70-150 pounds. Ability to lift 10-40 pounds. Requires some exposure to chemicals and cleaning products.
