Summary:
Under the supervision of management and tutelage of department members, receives on-the-job training and education related to the role of medical assistant. Provides clinical, clerical, and/or environmental support to members of the healthcare team. Acquires the knowledge, skills, and abilities related to Medical Terminology, Health Care Law and Ethics, Pharmacology, Anatomy and Physiology, Clinical and Laboratory Procedures, Medical Office procedures including Electronic Health Record documentation, and billing and coding. Acquires knowledge and experience needed to assist in supporting the team in the delivery of high value patient care to infants through geriatric patient populations. Assists in providing a system which will deliver services efficiently, effectively, and safely with care and compassion. Performs only those skills as outlined in the program curriculum and will demonstrate competency-based knowledge cognitively, affectively, and through psychomotor skills. U upholds the mission, vision, values, and customer service standards of The MetroHealth System.
Qualifications:
Required: High School Diploma or passage of a high school equivalency exam. Basic computer skills. Demonstrates good judgement, flexibility, initiative, and a strong work ethic. Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Access to reliable transportation to travel to different sites within the Ambulatory Network. Ability to work in assigned area(s) and other clinics based on operation needs. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for the American Heart Association (AHA) or obtains within 90 days of hire. Completes Epic Training within 30 days of hire. Completes Epic Cadence Training and obtains passing score within 120 days of hire. Obtains Certified Medical Assistant, Certified Clinical Medical Assistant, or Registered Medical Assistant Certification within 12 months of hire. Preferred: Ability to type 30 wpm. Knowledge of basic medical procedures and medical terminology. 1 year of experience in a customer service-related field. Physical Requirements: May sit, stand, stoop, bend, and ambulate intermittently during the day. May need to sit or stand for extended periods. See in the normal visual range with or without correction. Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction. Ability to lift 250-300 pounds with assistance. Ability to push/pull up to 500 pounds with assistance. Requires some exposure to communicable diseases or body fluids. Requires some exposure to chemicals and cleaning products.
