We invite outstanding individuals (MDs, DOs, MD/PhDs, PhDs, and DrPH) focused on applied clinical informatics research to apply for a new faculty position in the Center for Clinical Informatics Research and Education (CCIRE) within the Population Health Research Institute (PHRI). CCIRE is the academic and research arm of applied clinical informatics within The MetroHealth System operations, and Case Western Reserve University (CWRU).

CCIRE has more than a decade of experience in applied clinical informatics research focusing on studying electronic health record tools and interventions to improve health, as well as leveraging pooled electronic health record data for novel discoveries. CCIRE's vision is to exploit health information technology to improve health. Over the last decade CCIRE faculty have been involved in dozens of informatics grants, millions of dollars of grant funding, and hundreds of peer-reviewed publications, abstracts, and national presentations. CCIRE faculty also leverage resources and collaborate closely with the other two research Centers within PHRI (the Center for Reducing Health Disparities (CRHD) and the Center for Health Care Research and Policy (CHRP)), all of which are supported by a Division of Biostatistics and Data Sciences. CCIRE faculty partner with other researchers within the larger Case Western Reserve University, especially within the CWRU Department of Population and Quantitative Health Sciences and the Institute for Computational Biology. CCIRE established one of the early ACGME accredited clinical informatics fellowships in US and continues to lead regional training efforts in informatics.

The MetroHealth System was the first public or safety-net healthcare system to implement the Epic electronic health record, starting in 1999 and has a long history of deep partnership with the Epic corporation, including assisting with the Epic's Cosmos Data Network for over a decade. MetroHealth is in the top 1% of all healthcare systems in the US in terms of electronic health record implementation and use based on Healthcare Information and Management System Society measures. Users of the MetroHealth Epic electronic health record place it in the top 3% nationally in terms of usability based on KLAS Arch Collaborative data.

CCIRE faculty play a lead role in the informatics component of the multi-institution Clinical and Translational Science Collaborative (https://case.edu/medicine/ctsc/).

Required Qualifications

Applicants should have a MD, DO, MD/PhD, PhD, or DrPH degree or equivalent and a strong record of scholarly activity. A rank of Assistant professor or higher is preferred. Academic rank will be determined based on record of experience.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be expected to establish a strong program of high quality extramurally-funded informatics research. CCIRE faculty members actively contribute to an environment that values diversity and nurtures collaboration, creativity, and innovation. Ample opportunities exist to benefit from new interdisciplinary collaborations across the MetroHealth System (MHS), CWRU and other health systems in the region. The new faculty will also have the opportunity to advance and extend existing relationships to multiple departments in the hospital and the University. Clinical responsibilities will be based on candidate interests and MHS clinical needs if the candidate has a clinical degree. Teaching opportunities can be discussed based on candidate interests.
