Biweekly Hours: 72.00

Shift: 0700-1900, 1900-0700, rotating weekends and holidays

Summary:


In coordination with the Mobile Intensive Care Unit (MoICU)/critical care transport nurse, provides advanced life support in a prompt, resourceful, and efficient manner. Collaborates with the Nurse in compliance with established protocol and regulatory requirements to provide support services and transport. Responsible for maintaining compliance with CAMTS (Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems) requirements and all associated documentation. Actively participates in external education/marketing initiatives in order to protect and maintain market base. Demonstrates age-specific competencies in the care of neonates, infants, toddlers, pre-schoolers, school aged, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients. Complies with the policies and procedures of The MetroHealth System. Upholds the mission, vision, values, and customer service standards of The MetroHealth System.

Qualifications:

Required: High school diploma or passage of a high school equivalency exam. Current Ohio certification as an EMT-Paramedic. Current Emergency Vehicle Operations Course (EVOC) or Coaching the Emergency Vehicle Operator (CEVO) certification or successful completion within 6 months of hire. 3 years of experience as an active paramedic in an EMS service or hospital ED. Current and valid Ohio Driver's License and obtain and maintain eligibility of insurability as determined by MetroHealth System insurance carrier's requirements to operate MetroHealth vehicles. Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the AHA, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Life Support (PALS). Possesses Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) certification or obtains it within 6 months of hire. Possesses Flight Paramedic Certification (FP-C) or obtains it within 2 years of hire. Must attain a score equal to or greater than 70% in the simulation/scenario portion of the interview process. Successful completion of a pharmacology test prior to completion of orientation. Successful completion of the Intermediate EKG test during the interview process. Excellent communication skills with the ability to speak assertively and sensitively to various populations in stressful situations. Preferred: Critical Care transport experience. Emergency room experience in a Level I or II Trauma Center. ITLS (International Trauma Life Support), PHTLS (Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support), or equivalent.
