Summary:
Ensures a safe environment for patients, visitors, employees, and hospital property by rounding in behavioral health units and the psychiatric emergency department, engaging patients, and promoting a safe and therapeutic environment while working in collaboration with clinical teams.
Qualifications:
Required: HS Diploma or passage of a high school equivalency exam. 2 years of experience working in a Behavioral Health setting, corrections or healthcare facility, or other related experience. Training in WELLE or obtained within 90 days of hire. Possess a current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) or obtains it within 90 days of hire. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision Capacity to manage stressful situations, problem-solve quickly, and react appropriately during psychiatric emergencies. Ability to interact effectively with a wide range of cultural, ethnic, racial, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Preferred: Associate degree in Criminal Justice, Psychology, or another related field from an accredited institution. Experience working as a security guard Experience as a trainer or educator, particularly on topics regarding safety and de-escalation
