CLEVELAND, OHIO (USA). The Department of Pathology at The MetroHealth System, a teaching affiliate of Case Western University School of Medicine, is recruiting a full-time Hematopathologist with additional training or experience in some discipline of anatomic pathology or transfusion medicine. The position may also include directorship of the hematology, hematopathology and flow cytometry laboratories contingent on the candidate's experience and qualifications.This position comes with a faculty appointment at Case Western Reserve University, at a rank commensurate with experience. Compensation is competitive with an excellent benefits package.
The pathology department of the MetroHealth System provides a full range of services to residents of Cuyahoga and neighboring counties. The "safety net" health system has just started a bone marrow transplant program. It is expected that the number of bone marrow biopsies will increase significantly in the next 3-5 years. In addition, a CAR-T lab has been brought up on the MetroHealth campus and will be expected to provide this innovative therapy to patients beginning in 2024. The health system also serves a large minority and immigrant community, including patients with coagulopathies and sickle cell disease. The new pathologist will be expected to contribute to patient care teams addressing the needs of these challenging patients. Participation in resident and medical student teaching, and contribution to clinical or translational research, are expected.
Applicants must hold a MD or DO degree with American Board of Pathology certification or eligibility in AP/CP or AP, as well as be board certified or board eligible in Hematopathology. They should be qualified for an unrestricted medical license in Ohio.
The MetroHealth System is a fully integrated provider of high-quality healthcare, consisting of four hospitals, four emergency departments and 60 additional medical care sites throughout Cuyahoga County. The pathology department is housed in a new and innovative campus which continues to grow, with the addition of a fully accredited cancer institute expected in the near future.
