The MetroHealth System is redefining health care by going beyond medical treatment to improve the foundations of community health and well-being: affordable housing, a cleaner environment, economic opportunity and access to fresh food, convenient transportation, legal help and other services. The system strives to become as good at preventing disease as it is at treating it. Founded in 1837, Cuyahoga County's safety-net health system operates four hospitals, four emergency departments and more than 20 health centers.

MetroHealth - Case Western Reserve University

Trauma / Critical Care Surgeon

The Division of Trauma, Surgical Critical Care, Burns, and Acute Care Surgery at MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio, is accepting applications for a full-time academic surgeon. Successful candidates should be board-certified/eligible in General Surgery with added qualifications in Surgical Critical Care and have a strong interest in teaching. An academic appointment to Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) commensurate with the candidate's academic record will be offered.

We are seeking a full-time faculty commitment from a surgeon interested in providing high quality care to trauma, emergency general surgery, and critically ill patients. Our group prides itself on how well we work together to provide care to the nearly 3000 trauma patients admitted per year. The candidate would take approximately 4 to 6 calls per month covering acute care surgery (trauma, general surgery, and critical care). We are looking for a team player who is interested in developing their academic career. We have a critical care fellowship program and train residents from all over the region including many ED residents, Cleveland Clinic surgery residents, and our own surgical residency program through CWRU and University Hospitals of Cleveland. There is opportunity for leadership development and growth both locally and regionally.
