Summary:
Leads, directs, and oversees all types of capital facilities planning, design, and construction activities throughout the MetroHealth System (the System). Collaborates and coordinates department's activities with other System's Departments, e.g., Strategic Planning, Facilities Management, General Counsel, Hospital Operations, clinical departments, and others. Directs and supports staff to ensure safe and efficient projects, completed on time and on budget in accordance with the needs and expectations of the System. Maintains and emphasizes open communication between department staff, System customers and users, and consultants, contractors, and vendors for each project. Develops and oversees the policies and procedures governing the operation of the department. Upholds the mission, vision, values, and customer service standards of The MetroHealth System.

- Bachelor's Degree in architecture, engineering, program management, or construction management Master's degree in engineering or an MBA, or equivalent knowledge, skills, and working experience in lieu of the master's degree Certified Healthcare Constructor (CHC) or Certified Healthcare Facility Manager (CHFM) and maintains throughout employment Infection Control Risk Assessment Construction Trades Best Practices Awareness Training and maintains throughout employment In lieu of the degrees identified above, an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience in addition to the experience stated below:
- 10 years of professional experience encompassing planning, design, contract management
- Five years of management experience encompassing technical and staff construction supervision
- Experience with capital planning or management Hospital or healthcare organization management experience
- Experience with the leadership and direction of a high-performance team environment
- Experience with multimillion-dollar projects
- Experience with managing many construction projects simultaneously
- Demonstrated experience with the creation and negotiation of design and construction contracts
- Familiarity with project management software and document control
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experienced with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Demonstrated ability to manage and motivate subordinate personnel
- Experience with public procurement of design and construction services
- Demonstrated success in complying with Joint Commission Standards
- Working knowledge of Federal, State, and Local Codes and Standards
- Proven leadership, engineering competence, and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated evidence of continuing professional self-development
- Ability to interact effectively with a wide range of cultural, ethnic, racial, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Preferred:
- Professional licensure as an architect or engineer or building-related profession
- Experience with construction estimates
- Experience with Ohio Revised Code 339 Experience with E-builder project management software
Physical Requirements:
- May sit, stand, stoop, bend, and ambulate intermittently during the day
- Ability to walk through construction sites, walk up and down stairs, and climb a ladder
- May need to sit or stand for extended periods
- Communicate in face-to-face, phone, email, and other communications
- Ability to see computer monitor and departmental documents
