Maternity Services Representative- Nursing NICU 64hrs Biweekly Evenings

Summary:


Serves as the preliminary contact for patients, families, and visitors. Ensures appropriate patient pre-registration, registration, admission, scheduling, transfer, and discharge. Completes the Birth Certificate process. Performs a variety of administrative duties in support of the unit. Upholds the mission, vision, values, and customer service standards of The MetroHealth System.

Qualifications:

Required: HS Diploma or passage of a high school equivalency exam. Minimum of 1 year experience in a business/health care/medical office setting. Able to operate a PC, including working with multiple hospital information systems/applications and previous experience with Microsoft Office applications. Knowledge of medical terminology. Able to understand and interpret Federal and State rules/regulations governing healthcare benefits, with current knowledge of The Joint Commission (TJC), the Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act (EMTALA), and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA) compliance regulations. Able to understand the front-end revenue cycle process. Experience operating routine office equipment (i.e. faxes, copy machines, printers, multi-line telephones, etc.). Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Able to work as a team member in a fast-paced environment. Able to organize workloads and multi-task. Strong customer service skills. Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Able to communicate with a variety of disciplines and patient populations.

Preferred: Previous healthcare experience (ideally in a hospital) in a patient care setting. Experience in interviewing patient/family members. Associates Degree in a healthcare-related field.
