Summary:
Provides advanced, direct patient care management within the Wound Ostomy Continence Nursing (WOCN) scope of practice, including assessing and diagnosing patients, creating care plans, treating health problems, and promoting preventative healthcare measures. Contributes to indirect practice activities with the goal of continuously improving the quality and delivery of WOCN patient care, including executing budget control measures. Upholds the mission, vision, values, and customer service standards of The MetroHealth System.
Qualifications:
Required: Internal Candidates: Bachelor's of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution and 2 years of Registered Nurse experience. Master's of Science Degree in Nursing (MSN) or obtains within 4 years of hire. Successful completion of a Wound, Ostomy, and Continence (WOC) education program. Possess a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio. Current Certified Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse (CWOCN) by the Wound Ostomy and Continence Nursing Certification Board (WOCNCB) or obtains within 12 months of hire. Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA). Ability to interact effectively with a wide range of cultural, ethnic, racial, and socioeconomic backgrounds. External Candidates: BSN from an accredited institution and 3 years of Wound Ostomy Continence experience in a high-volume, integrated care delivery environment. Master's of Science Degree in Nursing (MSN) or obtains within 4 years of hire. Possess a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio. Current CWOCN by the WOCNCB. Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA). Ability to interact effectively with a wide range of cultural, ethnic, racial, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Preferred: Master's of Science Degree in Nursing (MSN). Physical Requirements: May sit, stand, stoop, bend, and ambulate intermittently during the day. May need to sit or stand for extended periods. See in the normal visual range with or without correction. Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction. Ability to lift 250-300 pounds with assistance. Ability to push/pull up to 500 pounds with assistance. Requires some exposure to communicable diseases or body fluids. Requires some exposure to chemicals.
