Assistant Nurse Manager - Critical Care Step Down

Location: MetroHealth Main Campus- Glick

Bi-weekly Hours: 80.00

Shift: Primary weekdays; Must be Flexible to cover shifts based on unit needs

In cooperation and conjunction with the nurse manager, plans, coordinates, and evaluates all unit activities impacting patient care delivery; holds self and staff accountable for identification, evaluation, documentation, and appropriate intervention of patients' needs to ensure quality, cost-effective, and evidence-based patient care. Ensures the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice through the implementation of the American Nursing Association (ANA) Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics. Works with the nurse manager to support unit operations, including practice and financial management. Upholds the mission, vision, values, and customer service standards of The MetroHealth System.

Primary Patient Population:

    • Congestive Heart Failure
    • COPD
    • DKA
    • Sepsis


    Primary skills utilized/learned:

    • EKG interpretation
    • Central Line care
    • Rescue Bi-pap, High Flow Oxygen, Trach/Vents,
    • Assist with bedside procedures (endoscopies, bronchoscopies)
    • Critical thinking, delegating, time management


    Personnel ANM will work with:

    • •RNs, Patient Care Nursing Assistants (PCNAs), Nurse Interns, Providers, PT, OT


    Number of beds on unit:

    • 14 beds

    Required Qualifications:

    • Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.
    • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). Current registered nurse licensure in the State of Ohio.
    • Current AHA certification(s) relevant to clinical practice area (as outlined in the RN Clinical Nurse job description).
    • 2 years of experience as a registered nurse.
    • Demonstrates strong interpersonal, verbal/written communication, delegation, and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to interact effectively with a wide range of cultural, ethnic, racial, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
